I'm writing on a boat, reflecting on my retreat a little. Well, I only have about 12 minutes until the boat docks at Vancouver, but I'll give it a go.
In a text message, I shared that “being around inspiring people makes me believe in myself more.” It has been nice to be around such people this week.
A friend said this quality is what they may most desire in friends.
They continued, "Whenever I have this experience, I consider the residency / retreat, despite whatever work I did or didn't do, a resounding success because it is so rare to find."
I find seeking out environments in which I can be around inspiring people maybe the most elemental to my success and (perhaps) continued happiness. So seeking them out, and taking the time to do that, can be so extremely worth it.
(I specifically remember spending a lot of time on my application to science camp back in high school. It ended up being life-changing.)
